The New Player's Guide to World of Warcraft

So your life needs a little spice and you want to escape to the solitude of your computer. Easily done – simply pick up a 10-day trial version of World of Warcraft. Soon you’ll find yourself immersed in a world of magic and mystery, and you’ll lose all interest in sleeping, eating, and anything mundane like work or school. Your standard catchphrase will morph into, “Just a minute! I have to finish this quest!” You’ll emerge triumphant, three years later, with epic loot and a haggard, pale face, to find that none of your real life friends remember who you are. But you’ll have a ton of friends in the game that respect you for your playing prowess.

Sound attractive? Step this way and let me explain some things. World of Warcraft is classified as a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Millions of players just like yourself log on every day to interact with other players; either to cooperate with them or fight them. Often it’s your choice. There are four types of WoW servers:

player versus player (PVP) servers - you must always defend yourself against players from another faction;

normal role-playing (RP) servers - the idea is to deep-play your character (i.e., if you're a dwarf, you talk and act like one when chatting with other players);

RP-PVP servers - you deep-play and must defend yourself;

Normal servers - you don't deep-play and don't have to defend yourself unless you turn on PVP manually.

The casual player who wants a fun game should pick either normal or RP servers (if you want to pretend to be your character). If you’d like to pit yourself against other players every time you log on, which can be both stressful and exciting, you can pick a PVP server.

You should also note what your “server time” is before you start: server time is based on time zones, but not always yours (for instance, you might be playing on a PST server while living in Wisconsin, so 6:30 server time would be 8:30 for you).

Once you decide which server to choose, you need to decide on your faction. There are two factions: Alliance and Horde. Each has five different races to choose from. Once you choose a faction you are stuck with it: the two factions are pitted against each other and can only communicate superficially.

Alliance faction is composed of Night Elves, Humans, Gnomes, Dwarves, and Draenei (they sort of looks like blue satyrs). Horde faction has Orcs, Taurens (cow people), Trolls, Undead, and Blood Elves (small, scornful relatives of Night Elves).

Each faction has capital cities and lands that belong to it. Factions may not enter one another’s cities (unless they want to encounter some very mean guards!). So if your friends are all rolling up Hordies, you’ll want to be on the Horde side too, or you’ll never be able to play with one another.

Now that you've picked a faction, it's time to create your character. In part two of my introduction to WoW, I provide a rundown of the different character classes in World of Warcraft. Let's get started!

Emma Martin’s an avid gamer who reviews World of Warcraft strategy guides at WoW Players Guides. Once you know what kind of character you'd like to play, you should take a look at Joana's Horde Leveling Guide if you're going to roll up a Horde character, or Brian Kopp's Alliance Leveling Guide for the Alliance faction characters. They both provide great tips on leveling your character as quickly as possible.

Selling Your World of Warcraft Account - Foolish?

There are many things you are allowed to do and many things that you are not allowed to do when playing World of Warcraft. Those many things include everything from buying gold offline to trading or selling your account to anyone else. There are many reasons why this isn’t allowed, not the least of which is that Blizzard’s ToS strictly says not to.

They own the game world and if you sell it, you’re stealing. However, that’s not the main reason I’m offering to stay away from such transactions. I’m more concerned with the possibility of you being scammed by an Account Trader or Buyer with no intention of giving you what you deserve for your account.

Many users will jump at the chance to get a free or better account or to get a good amount of money for an old account they are done playing. The problem is that trading these accounts is much too hard to do without running across someone who isn’t interested in paying you.

The promise of high level characters, lots of gold, and less work grinding is too enticing for many people to pass up and for that reason they overlook the sure signs of false intentions on the part of a scammer.

For the most part, these scammers approach their victims from websites where people attempt to buy, sell and trade accounts. They will often troll these pages and build up their reputation until they get the perfect person to contact, usually a mid level player with a lot of questions to ask. Don’t think they necessarily want a high level account, because generally they are trying to get a stolen account so as they can scam other people through your account. It’s a chain of scams.

The scammer will usually post their desire to trade an old account with a higher level character than your own. They often claim to be done playing the game or wanting a new challenge or to help you build up your own character. They might have an account to give you with nothing in it, or they might simply send you an account with nothing in it at all, only a dead account.

In the end, they will take your money and make all sorts of excuses to get out of having to send their account or money before you send your account. It’s often backed up with a fake Ebay account and fake Paypal loyalty number to make you feel like you’re in the clear. In the end, they’ve lied to you at every step and take your account before you can respond.

The only thing you can do to keep this from happening 100% is to not sell or trade accounts. However, if you decide to take that risk, you should be aware of the steps these scammers take to get your trust and be able to see through their lies. Be careful and you can continually enjoy the game.

Dealing With Scam Crafters in World of Warcraft

There are too many instances in World of Warcraft in which you can easily fall victim to a scammer posing as a crafter. Everyone has a need for items and crafted goods and many people turn to their fellow players to help them rather than using the Auction House or Shops, because it is cheaper and you can use your own goods.

However, scammers can cleverly use this method to take your items and your gold and never deliver your goods, leaving you completely broke and itemless. Crafting scams are incredibly simple for a scammer to commit as well, only requiring a high level character (that they probably took from someone else), a simple program to show people items they don’t actually have and cannot make, and their own normal account.

With these simple tools, a scammer can scam hundreds of gold an hour from their fellow users and if you’re not aware of their methods, you could easily fall victim yourself. The scammer will usually take these things to a major city and start advertising their skills to the crowd, offering a fairly good deal for a crafted item. The deal will seem better than others, but only by a little bit. If the deal seems too good, most people will grow suspicious.

However, the scammer doesn’t have any of the necessary skills to make these items and simply uses their hacked program to make you think they do by posting hotlinks to items they don’t have and crafting skills they don’t have. Many users will see this as the only proof they need that the offer is real and start forking over mats and gold without actually checking the other players crafting skills and armory.

Once they have your gold and your materials they mail them off to their normal account and disappear forever, deleting the fake account and taking everyone’s money. You probably noticed them offering the same deal to numerous other characters throughout the city. This is also often a tip off that they are scamming you as they hurry to maximize the amount of gold they make before turning off their high level character.

Because they’re using a scammed account and disappear so quickly, usually through a proxy, the user cannot be reported and you will never get your items back. However, to avoid such a scam, it is only a matter of carefully selecting who you choose to craft for you and always checking their skills.

If someone offers a good crafting deal, they might just be a nice person who is trying to help lower level characters craft items. However, always check their armory and skill level first to make sure they are telling the truth and never hand over gold if you have not references to assure you that the character is legitimate. They might still scam you if they’ve stolen an account, but at least you will have done everything you can to stop it. Be aware of the signs and the possible methods of scamming and you can save lots of time.

What to Do When Scammed in World of Warcraft

When you’ve been scammed in World of Warcraft it probably seems like there isn’t a whole lot you can do to stop it. The scammer usually has the law on their side because of the law’s definition of digital property and the ambiguity of online gaming. However, there are some things you can do, if you have the right kind of knowledge on your side, to keep from falling completely victim to a scammer.

The very best thing you can do is to not do anything of high risk to start with. If you stay away from buying things offline, trading accounts, and clicking on email links that should be avoided, you can keep from losing your gold, items, and account to a scammer almost all the time.

Of course, if you are dealing with a scammer, you probably are engaging in high risk activities and in that case, there are some things you can do. First off, always write down character names. Many times, scammers will use names consisting of strange European or Asian characters that are designed to keep you from remembering them. If you write these names down before they get away from you, you have something to give Blizzard when you report them. Also, record dates, times and any other information you notice that might help Blizzard track them down and return your items and gold to you.

Always read your email thoroughly. This goes for almost all situations outside of World of Warcraft as well. If you spend the time necessary to check your email thoroughly and keep from clicking on anything suspect, you can also keep from getting caught in elaborate phishing scams. If you think of your World of Warcraft account in the same way as you think of your money, you likely won’t have much trouble keeping it as safe.

Ultimately, you must be aware of the rules and how they apply to both you and the scammer. If something is against the rules and both you and scammer have engaged in that activity, the scammer hopes to get away with it because you are afraid to report it. However, Blizzard will still track down the scammer if they can regardless of what you did and you should do your best to help them get caught and keep them from doing the same thing to a future player.

Keep the right information at hand, always record what you do online and never fall victim to simple ploys and you will never need to report anything to Blizzard and catch a scammer. However, if you do get scammed, don’t be resigned to the scamming. Do your best to get them caught and help protect everyone else.

Avoiding Impersonators in World of Warcraft

In World of Warcraft, scamming is a rampant problem. People are all too willing to take on the persona of someone else and lie to you if it means they can get your gold and items for free. The worst part about this kind of scam is that it very often is not considered illegal. It is largely immoral and might break the Blizzard ToS, but it never leads to any kind of lasting issues for the scammer and so they feel emboldened and right in their actions. The best way to combat such scamming is to be aware of it and to hit back when you can.

First off, you must know what to look for. Impersonators are people that enter World of Warcraft pretending to be different than what they are. This might include men pretending to be women and luring other men into giving them gold and items. This might include high level scammers appearing as noobies with Turtle Mount Codes, saying they got them from their little brother who isn’t allowed to play World of Warcraft himself yet. They could simply be a character who lies to you about what their crafting profession is.

Whichever lie a scammer decides to tell you, you must be aware that they will eventually turn on you and take your things. It’s just a matter of what they’re after. So, the best way to keep this from happening is to never give in to their requests or demands. Foremost, you need to never let a scammer get the best of you. Don’t immediately start conversing with a new character in the game and believe everything they tell you. It’s not safe and you have no way of knowing they’re telling the truth.

If you decide to make a purchase or trade items in the game, don’t do so with a character who is as low level or who you’ve never met or cannot find someone else to vouch for. Of course, this doesn’t apply for low level trades and purchases. But, an epic item or 400 gold tailoring job should never be given to someone with no name recognition on your server.

Finally, don’t let the prospect of being scammed scare you from playing and enjoying the game. WoW is meant to be enjoyable for all different kinds of players and you shouldn’t have to be on your guard at all times to feel like you’re not about to lose your account or your gold. Educate yourself on the elaborate steps that a scammer might take to scam you in the game and otherwise just enjoy. It is the biggest and most popular game world around for a reason.

Why You Shouldn't Trade, Sell, or Buy Accounts in World of Warcraft

In the Blizzard Terms of Service, buried somewhere deep in the many clauses, is a series of statements that inform you it is against the rules to let anyone else play your account or to play anyone else’s account. It might seem like an odd rule, but it makes sense as these kinds of transactions are the source of a good percentage of the scamming found in World of Warcraft. Scammers are all too happy to make you think they want to buy your account or trade with you, only to take your account and leave you wondering where your compensation is.

The scams themselves are the most important things to keep track of as they are varied in size and length and generally target people who are not too weak or too strong. Scammers are very careful about how they approach their victims and you should be aware of what they’re thinking in the process and what to avoid.

For most bait and switch scams, the process starts with finding the right victim. If you’ve ever posted interest in selling or trading an account, you might get contacted at some point by a scammer who is scouring the net for likely targets. Generally, they target midrange accounts because they can offer an account with better features and cause the victim to salivate and eventually give in. Moreover, those midlevel accounts are often people who are not quite as versed in the ways of the game and the ways of a scammer.

Ultimately, the scammers’ main protection lies in that you have no one to report to. It’s against Blizzard’s rules to trade accounts, so if you report the scam, you will still be out of an account. Of course, Blizzard is much happier to track down and close off accounts of scammers than simple ToS violators. If you do get scammed, it’s important to report it regardless or that person will continue to scam. Your account is gone either way.

The key to not getting enticed into these scams though is to never post anything on a trading site that would lead a scammer to you. If you do, never talk with someone who you do not know and cannot find a reference for. They’re likely using an alias and you’re wasting your time.

The scammer will never offer up their information first and will never offer to pay you or trade you first. They will likely cite a strange problem that keeps them from doing what they need to be legitimate and in the end will likely try to play the sympathy card – ‘my mom took my computer away’ – or the like. Never believe these claims and remain resolute. A real person would understand your caution.

In the end, the safest way to avoid this kind of scam is to not do anything sketchy to start with. Don’t look at these kinds of sites and don’t try to trade your account. Stay safe by staying straight and just enjoying the game.

Phishing and Email Scams in World of Warcraft

Like any of the dozens of other internet scams, phishing has been around for as long as people with ill-intentions have known it to work. There are dozens of different methods to take someone’s identity, financial information, or login passwords, but Email Phishing has long been the most successful and for that reason World of Warcraft scammers have taken it up just as readily as anyone else.

While it might not be as dangerous to fall for a World of Warcraft phishing scam as a Paypal or Bank of America scam, it is equally as frustrating. Hours of your life have been put into your characters online and for someone to come along and take them from you is incredibly upsetting. For that reason as well as the other scams mentioned, you should know exactly what to look for when reading any email about your World of Warcraft account.

First off, the rules about what phishers are allowed to write to you, legally, are rather hazy. For example, certain words and phrases are copyrighted by Blizzard and cannot be used in an email for the purpose of scamming. However, other phrases are not. Generally, it doesn’t matter what they say as they are taking your information and performing fraud, but many scammers try to stay in the legal grey area as much as possible, so they will take the time to utilize alternate words in their emails. This includes things like ‘Blizzard E’ instead of ‘Blizzard Entertainment’. Watch for any phrases or words that don’t’ match up with what you traditionally receive. The template might be identical with a slight switch in the wording.

Next up is the email address itself. Blizzard has its own domain and no one else can use that domain. If you get an email from anyone but Blizzard.com, you know you’re getting a phishing email. Don’t reply. This is a simple matter of paying attention. Never click through a link on any email unless you’re sure it is legitimate. Instead, if an email asks you to click a link, type in the website address directly and login that way. It’s much safer.

Finally, always read the entire contents of the email. Phishers will often try to scare you into giving away information that you should never give away in the first place. They might tell you your account has been hacked and that you must send your login information so it can be confirmed as yours. They might pretend you’ve done something wrong and ask you to login to a fake address where they will take you information.

Never let these threats scare you as they are often ploys to get your information. Secondly, never give out information in an email. Blizzard, like every other responsible company out there will never ask for you personal or login information via email. It’s against their Privacy Policy. Keep an eye out and you should be able to steer clear of scams in your email and keep your account information safe.

Knowing Who the Scammers Are in World of Warcraft

With so many people online every day and one of the largest user bases in online gaming history, World of Warcraft is a huge melting pot of players from around the world. Unfortunately, this can also mean it might become home to some of the less savory people from across the globe as well. Every day, people throughout Azeroth, on every server, fall victim to any of a number of scams. These scams, masterminded by people who are too lazy to simply earn their own gold or level up their own characters, can be debilitating for someone who has put hours of their life into the game.

But, who are these scammers? Why do they attack indiscriminately and take other players’ gold and items without scruples? It’s a good question and to truly understand, you must first understand how easy it can be for them to do what they do.

Essentially, scammers are people who enjoy World of Warcraft but don’t enjoy grinding, farming, or spending hours of their lives buying and selling at an Auction House. They are incredibly impatient and yet fairly intelligent. Think of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and the elaborate scheme that Ferris goes through just to stay home from school. True, school is hard and not always entertaining, but the amount of intellect and planning that went into skipping school would have made him an incredibly adept student.

It’s the same with World of Warcraft scammers. These are good players and even better conmen who just don’t want to put the time into the game. They gather on websites like MMowned.com and share their methods for taking down their fellow players, constantly revising scams to stay ahead of what you know and can avoid.

The main problem with scammers is that they are hard to spot. The game is very anonymous in that everyone can take on a new identity and blend-in in an instant. For that reason, it becomes your job to keep an eye out for anyone that seems a little too suspicious.

To be fair though, a lot of scammers pick out victims who are openly breaking the Blizzard Terms of Service. They take accounts from people trying to buy gold offline, trade their accounts, or power level. It’s not that they feel bad for other players. It’s that they can easier get away with it because a player who is breaking the rules is less likely to report a scammer, lest they get caught as well.

This leaves three basic things you can do as a player to avoid scammers. First off, don’t do anything against the Terms of Service, least of all with someone who doesn’t have a background. Secondly, you need to make sure you know exactly who you’re dealing with. Don’t buy that Mount Code from a random level 5 character who says they got them from a friend who doesn’t play WoW. Lastly, be vigilant and know what the newest scams are. This is the best and usually only way to ensure you don’t get caught unprepared.

Trading Card Scam in World of Warcraft

There are a ton of different properties that have jumped up seemingly over night to tag along with the success of World of Warcraft. The World of Warcraft Trading Card Game is yet another one of these and was born of the popularity of both the online game and offline games such as Magic: The Gathering. With a game such as World of Warcraft though there were infinitely more options as to how to handle the card game and draw in collectors, one of which was to offer actual in-game items.

So, with the advent of the trading card game arrived the advent of the codes attached to the trading card game. These little codes were attached to certain hard to find cards and allowed players to acquire rare and goofy items in the game, one of which is the almighty Turtle Mount.

Well, not everyone was keen on playing the card game and so many players are willing to dole out a few hundred gold in the game to get the codes from the cards to acquire their mounts or other Trading Card items. Unfortunately, this also means that a small percentage of scammers have found yet another new way to prey on item hungry players and steal their gold.

So, for those of you who are intrigued by the prospect of getting a Turtle Mount or any of the many other Trading Card Game related items in World of Warcraft, it’s important to know exactly how to go about doing so, so as you don’t get scammed out of your gold.

Generally, a scammer will approach with the prospect of picking up a Turtle Mount code for a decent price, usually lower than it should be, but not too much lower so as to keep you from being suspicious. Then they will offer to give you a code attached in a letter of some kind and many will even mark the letter as COD so as to gain your trust.

However, the problem with that false trust is that they have are giving you a fake or already used code. These fake codes will look and appear real, all the way until you go to enter them and find that they are in fact empty numbers. The worst part is that the scammer will then send the gold back to their main character through a series of fake characters to avoid detection, logoff and delete their character. In a few short minutes you’re out a big sum of gold and they’re running around with a new epic mount.

The best way to avoid this kind of scam is to be educated on how it operates. You should know exactly what to look for and always deal only with players who you either know or can find someone to vouch for. Don’t buy expensive items such as letters from characters you’ve never met before.

Five Steps to Simplify Gamecube Shopping

The Nintendo Gamecube was released back in 2001 and was very popular for years. But now they are no longer manufactured and can be hard to find. Many stores no longer carry them. So how do you find a Gamecube? How much should you pay? And what should you look for when shopping? Below are five things to keep in mind to make your Gamecube shopping experience as pain free as possible.

1. Don't Spend More than $50 Total - The prices vary from one store to the next, but you can find Gamecube's for less than $50 even with shipping included. Many stores still sell them for $70-80, only a little bit less than the final retail price of $99. If you spend a little bit more time, you can definitely save yourself a lot of money.

2. Buy Used – Nintendo stopped making the Gamecube in 2006 so stores don't carry new systems anymore. Thankfully, Nintendo built the Gamecube very well so hardly any have reliability issues. The Gamecube isn't like the original Nintendo NES where you have to blow into all old systems and have just the right technique to get it working.

3. Don't Shop in Retail Stores – You will most likely be wasting your time. All major retails and most used video game stores have stopped selling Gamecube systems. They have switched over to the next generation of systems and don't have room for the Gamecube anymore. The best place to find a Gamecube in a store would be local independent video game retailers or pawn shops. Most retailers will sell a few Gamecube games still but don't sell the systems anymore.

4. Shop Online – The best place to find a Gamecube is from an online stores or Ebay. You can search Google or shopping comparison websites and find quite a few available. And like everything else in the world, you can find Gamecube systems on Ebay too. Be careful when shopping online to make sure you don't over pay for shipping though. Many retailers have a low list price of $29.99 for the console, only to charge $30-40 for shipping.

5. Watch What is Included – Out of the box the Gamecube came with one controller, an AV cable, and an AC Adaptor. You need all three of these for the system to work so be sure any sites where you shop explicitly say all three of these are included. You don't want to think you got a good deal on a system only to find it didn't include a controller, which will cost you another $15 to buy separately.

If you keep these five things in mind when shopping for your Gamecube you should be able to find a great deal and save yourself a lot of hassle. Now go find your Gamecube and start enjoying one of the greatest systems ever made.

JJGames has been selling used Gamecube systems, games, and accessories since 2002. Find out more about the Nintendo Gamecube by visiting => http://www.jjgames.com/system/gc

How To Get Mp3 On PSP - The Simple Way

So you've heard: not only can your Sony Play Station Portable (PSP) play games, but it can play music and videos as well. Your problem now is you don't know how to get mp3 on PSP. No problem. You're not the only PSP owner who wants to get the best out his PSP experience. This guide shows you how to get mp3 on PSP.

The only hardware you'll be needing are your PC, your PSP, a USB cable, and your USB memory stick. The software you'll need installed in your PC is called a CD ripper. It's a program that grabs music from your music CDs and turns them into a format that your PSP can read and play, like mp3s. The same program will also convert existing music files in your PC so you can later transfer them to your PSP.

If you don't have a collection of mp3s in your PC, just load the music CD and fire up the CD ripper. Choose to convert in mp3 format. Wait for the compilation to become mp3s. Now connect the PSP to your PC via the USB cable. When your PC detects your PSP as an external drive, you can now copy or drag and drop the m3s from your PC to your PSP's music folder. How To Download Music To PSP - Four Simple Steps

Having problems trying to download music to your Sony PSP? You're not alone. Fortunately, others before you have tried, and some of them succeeded. In this article, I show you four simple steps on how to download music to PSP.

1. Install a CD ripper and a PSP video converter into your PC. You can get the installer files from a friend who had done this before or you can download the programs from the Internet. A CD ripper allows you to grab music off your CDs. The PSP video converter lets you grab and convert video so you can watch them on your PSP. If you get both these programs, you can both listen to music and watch videos on your PSP.

2. Choose a CD with music files in them and load it into your PC. Run the CD ripper program and from there, choose the songs you want to stuff into your PSP. Select "extract and encode" to PSP or a similar command. If you already have a stash of music files in your PC, either ripped earlier or transferred there, all you need to do is click "add" in the CD ripper program. Ripping is a file conversion process. So the same idea applies to converting videos as well.

3. Make sure that all of the files you chose you selected "PSP" format. Otherwise, all your strutting is pointless, because your PSP won't be able the files. This part is a crucial step in how to download music to PSP. Do not overlook it.

4. Connect your PSP to your PC with a USB cable. Once your PC detects your PSP, just copy the files (music and videos or both) to the PSP.

That's it. Some people think they have to buy some expensive software for this, or that they need some tech guy. You don't. All you need basically is to find and install the file conversion programs, that would be the CD ripper and the video converter, and you are all set. Now you know how to download music to PSP. Have fun and spread the word!

Characters From The Bewitching World Of Warcraft

Of all the Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) the world has ever known, the World of Warcraft is one of the most exciting. It has myriads of interesting characters, each with its own complexities and as varied as the people of our own world.

The creator brings the characters to life, but thereafter each evolves into a character of its own making. This is solely dependent on the player who breathes life into the character he chooses to play. This is perhaps one of the reasons why the World of Warcraft in particular, and Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games in general, are hugely popular.

You could choose any character you wish to be, and there are many to choose from, and for the space of those few hours, you could play out your fantasies. The World of Warcraft provides the arena to indulge your creativity and to escape into a make-believe world.

Your traits and idiosyncrasies embodied in the character are far different from the character your opponent chooses to represent. No two humans in the world are alike, so also is the case with the characters you play in the World of Warcraft game. Therefore situations where your character meets another generate great interest. The outcome is often unpredictable.

If you have one account, you can take on the role of fifty different characters using different servers. The way to go about it is to follow a particular procedure which is outlined for you.

To begin with, you have to choose the group you wish to belong to. It is entirely up to you whether you wish to join the Honorable Alliance or the Mighty Horde.

Once you have decided that and the characters you wish to play, you are faced with the decision of which race the characters you represent are going to be from.

You could choose any of the eight races like Troll, Dwarf, Human or Orc for example and if the Burning Crusader expansion pack is available to you, you have an option of two additional ones as well.

The races are further divided into nine classes – Druids, Hunters, Mages, Paladins, Rogues, Priests, Shamans, Warlocks and Warriors. It’s up to you to decide which of these categories you’d like your characters to fall into. This will establish their identity. For example, Undead Mage signifies that the character belongs to the Undead race, while Mage accounts for the class.

Having fixed upon the race and class, you are required to choose a profession for the characters. The characters need to earn copper, silver or gold to see them through their adventures as they travel across their World of Warcraft. Now you are all set to venture into the World of Warcraft. Happy gaming!

How To Legally Make Money In Everquest 2 - EQ2

Tips on how to LEGALLY make money in this MMORPG. An unofficial guide by a veteran Everquest 2 player. I have listed what I can think of how to easily (or at least fairly easy) make money in EQ2. I have some more in depth posts in my gaming blog (link provided in link list) and I try to update this lens as things might change or can think of any new links to add. I'm thinking the prices of succulent roots might drop (no guarantee) since they have slightly increased the amount of root nodes in Sinking Sands. The newest patch (live update 36) brought some interesting changes, but other than the roots, no apparent change to the in game economy.

To legally make real money in this game, you need to have a character on one of the two Station Exchange enabled servers, The Bazaar (non-PvP) or Vox (PvP). Character transfer is usually free to these servers although you can't transfer items of value or coin. Oh, and when you are there you are stuck! One may not transfer a character from a Station Exchange-enabled server. Make sure that for further information regarding selling plat for money to look up the main EQ2 site.

The only place to buy and sell plat legally is on the Station Exchange. I think it is great that Sony makes it possible for players to make real life money in this game, so I encourage people that want to buy and sell plat to move to one of the two servers mentioned above. If more people start using Station Exchange then maybe they will open up more servers with this capability.

These days plat value is low, about a buck per plat, not like when it first started out. Some of the reasons behind this are illegal gold sellers, so make sure to /report and /petition all those gold spammers! They ruin it for the ones trying to legally make a little bit of extra income on this game. That is rule number one!

Stay away from botting, that is illegal as well. If you see someone botting, take screenshots and send in as well as /report, /petition. Keep in mind that boxing is different than botting. If you ACTUALLY control your toons it is different. However, the botters are running illegal macros.

would say that probably the sage or jeweler is the one that makes the quickest buck (ok well plat really) in this game. It all depends on supply and demand of course. Sage is famous for making good money. Easiest and cheapest to level is the provisioner and they make a steady income that quickly adds up (you might learn to not like that stove and keg so much when you keep having to go back to make more stuff).

Some tips for how to make coin in the world of Norrath Harvest and sell rares. Some people might say that the prices of rares will drop... well it does and then it goes back up. Prices fluctuate for pretty much anything on the broker.

Sell those collectibles on the broker.

Tradeskill and sell your mastercrafted stuff.

Buy low, sell high. Sound familiar? Well, the game economy is an economy like most other ones.

Distinguish what items might sell well enough on broker to bother selling them instead of vendoring them. Most things sell at least somewhat better on broker, but some things just are plain vendor trash.

Sell to the right npc... if you really want to get the most out of your vendor trash, take it to someone you have the highest faction with. If you are going to sell a lot and the items are worth at least a couple of gold, it really starts being worth the trip.

Get a house. This cannot be stressed enough. When items start costing up to a plat then broker commission starts to hurt, and people often bother taking the trip to your house to buy it. Plus sometimes you can mark your options higher and still be cheaper than the other person.

Get the most bang for your buck. Kelethin might not be the travel hub, so I'm not so sure that is any better than Qeynos in that aspect. Neriak is cheaper to live in than Freeport and just about as accessible. So I would probably recommend Neriak if the rent is an issue. Many people seemed to have moved to Neriak these days as well. However, one thing to keep in mind is that it appears impossible to sneak into Neriak, so if any good toons want to buy from your house there, well... they could most likely expect a repair bill. It is easier to sneak in Freeport.

This one is obvious... hunt nameds.

Don't destroy your non rare harvested stuff! The prices on some of the roots often get ridiculous, especially succulent roots, which is used heavily in tradeskill tier 6.

Those shiny things on the ground, collectibles, yeah... some people call them glowies, other people call them shinies... No big deal about lingo here, they're all collectibles. Most people seem to forget about the long around site Allakhazam... yes ogaming was better but then it was incorporated with the allakhazam site... not much to do about it. Allakhazam for Everquest 2 do have a good collection list (not all are covered, but many are there). Do a search in your favorite search engine for the site or better yet, check out the link list on this lens. Collectibles usually equals good money, some a lot better than others, so it pays to know where these things spawn. Collectibles are easy leveling, so many (especially those who already raised one or more toon to 70), will be interested in picking these up on the broker.

Happy adventuring!

The Social Aspects of World of Warcraft

Much of World of Warcraft can be played solo, even up and past level 70. But if you want to experience some of the broader aspects of the game, then it’s time to start interacting with other players on a social level, especially if you want to continue on to the endgame once you are past level 70. You must have the social skills and the desire to interact with other players. If you can't or won’t be sociable in a group situation, people will not ask you back. You might end up with a bad reputation, and you won't be able to run with the best guilds – all the high end raiding guilds talk to each other, and they know who has a bad rep.

Let me explain. When you go into a dungeon, you will be in a group situation: groups can range from five to 40 people. The group is working toward a common goal; namely, to kill the dungeon bosses and acquire good loot. The best loot comes from the larger dungeons that you encounter after level 70. But to raid in a group situation like that, you'll need a guild: a group of like-minded individuals who group up to raid dungeons at the same time. Guilds are integral to the WoW endgame and helpful to the leveler as well.

While leveling up to 70, you probably would do best in a leveling guild if you‘ve decided that you want to spend more time interacting with other players in the game. These are guilds with other characters who are leveling as well. You can group up to complete quests and run lower-level dungeons. This leveling process is what makes a good team player out of you. You can learn to interact with other classes and learn to play your own class. In a leveling guild, helpfulness is the watchword. You want to be helped, right? So you help others. You can gain a reputation as a nice, helpful, sociable person, and that can also help you gain entree to the next type of guild: the raiding guild.

Raiding guilds are for players above 70 who want to experience larger dungeons like Serpentshrine Caverns. Usually you apply to the guild and they accept you based on your friendliness, commitment to raiding, and what class they need at the moment. You usually must be committed to 3-4 nights a week of raiding (sometimes more), but these guilds are also looking for players they can have fun with. If you click with a guild, you might be able to stay with it for years.

Sometimes you might have a bad guild or a bad group experience: don't get discouraged. After all, the game is virtual, and people often feel free to be rude or mean because they are hiding behind a screen. Don't take it personally if possible, and move on if you need to. World of Warcraft players range from grandparents down to 12-year-old kids; sometimes the kids act more grown-up than the grandparents. In my experience, though, there are ltos of friendly and helpful people in game, and you'll probably encounter many of them. Just make sure you are one as well.

It’s also good to remember that World of Warcraft is what you make of it. It’s your game. You can decide how you want to play it, whether that means solo speed runs through the levels or lots of meandering through the game world while chatting with your friends. This week you might want to see how fast you can get to level 70. Next week, you might want to grab a couple of friends and go exploring. It’s entirely up to you.

A World of Warcraft Essential- The Art of WoW Leveling

Many MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) gamers take the games all too seriously. Why shouldn’t they? Their pride and honor is at stake. If World of Warcraft is their canvas then skills like leveling merit a status, no less than that of an art. There are a lot of WoW leveling guides out there, but to start with, you can do with the very basic knowledge of leveling and the various ways of leveling.

If you are an absolute noob, even then you might be able to guess the meaning of leveling. If you are not good at the guessing work, then let me divulge the meaning of leveling until you hone your guessing skills-Eh! That’s a lame excuse. WoW Leveling, as made obvious from the term itself, is the process of gaining experience and consequently going up in level. In Role Playing Games, the player goes up in level by gaining experience, which in turn is measured through experience points. The more experience points you accumulate, the faster you progress to the higher level. Higher level players hold a distinct advantage over the lower level players. This advantage can be in terms of skills and character attributes. Also, you can perform certain tasks based on your level. This implies that a level-1character cannot perform a level-2 specific task. Higher level tasks carry greater rewards, thus making leveling a crucial process.

There Is a Method To Everything, Even Destruction:

Yes sir, it is important to know the various kinds and methods of leveling. There are various leveling techniques. Questing, raiding and mobbing are a few basic examples. You have the option of going into leveling-overdrive with power leveling techniques. The power leveling techniques are same as the basic leveling techniques, but they are undertaken at a great pace. You will have to put role-playing on the backseat and, try and gain experience points only. If you could avert all lengthy quests for the shorter ones, then that would be a case of power leveling. There are other techniques like grinding. Grinding is the process, a monotonous process at that, of overdoing anything that earns you experience points, like mobbing (killing mobs for experience points). Professional power leveling has become a lucrative profession. There have been reports of people earning $5000 to $30000 a year from it. Power leveling turns professional, when it is undertaken on behalf of a few lazy and affluent gamers by some other people, who get rich in the process- pun intended. Don’t start counting the greenbacks as yet; instead learn the ropes of leveling first.
